Juice cleansing is a great way to hit your body’s reset button. Most of us have really busy lives. We typically are on the go, our eating habits are often not consistent; sometimes we eat far too much or not enough at all. We over indulge on salt, sugar, beer and the hard stuff on weekends, at weddings or special occasions. It’s a fast paced world and we often forget that our rigorous schedules, stress, pollution and processed food can lead to a build up of toxins in the body.
Juice cleansing not only helps the body flush out all the yucky stuff, it gives the digestive system a moment to rest and recoup, therefore all people, no matter how toxic they are, can benefit from a cleanse.

Starting your cleanse
It is best to wean yourself off of processed food, dairy, sugar, meat and alcohol before beginning a cleanse. In the days leading up, narrow your diet down to fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
Should I work out while cleansing?
Your body goes through a lot of changes while cleansing, it is best to not push it too hard. We recommend doing very gentle exercises while cleansing i.e. soft yoga or a light run on the beach. This is also a good time to indulge in a massage or facial, spend time sitting in a sauna or steam room, or dare we say it…try a colonic.
During your cleanse
Drink more water than you ever imagined drinking. Water will help to hydrate and flush out the toxins.
If you can’t stop yourself from cheating, try to eat something plant based, like a watermelon or cantaloupe, which are sweet and satisfying, but won’t ruin your cleanse completely. However don’t gorge yourself, you will spike your sugar levels and feel really sluggish.
Expect a good amount of bowel movements in various forms. Remember you are cleansing the body, so you may see some weird stuff come out of you.
Typically, on a 5 day cleanse for example, you will feel excited the first day, hungry with some possible headaches and a little spaciness the second day, and then a surge of energy the third day and moving forward. Don’t be afraid if you start to feel nauseous, light headed or grumpy early on. This is typical, just hold tight and stay committed, you will start to feel amazing soon.
What not to do while cleansing
Do not consume any alcohol or coffee. Avoid caffeine altogether. Sip on very light herbal teas or drink hot water with lemon, ginger and raw honey.
Exiting your cleanse
Don’t undue all the good by slamming a coke and scarfing down a bag of Cheetos right out of the gate. You will feel like absolute garbage. Ease your way out of the cleanse by eating whole, clean, unprocessed food like fruit salads and vegetable soup. Slowly start to reintroduce dairy, meat and sugar if you must.
